Easter and Mother’s Day and other Spring Holidays are right around the corner. It’s time to plan your Spring dinner or brunch.
The good news about Spring Holiday Side Dishes is that so many things can be healthy, gluten free, grain free and still satisfying.
I’ve put together Spinach Tiger’s Favorite Spring Holiday Side Dishes and Desserts.
Take note that I’ve marked them paleo, low carb or gluten free where appropriate. (For example, I’m not going to name an egg, gluten free).
Spicy Pimento Deviled Eggs (Low Carb) In the South, we always have pimento cheese and deviled eggs. When you put these together, you have a low carb, keto appetizer or holiday side dish.
As far as salads, you want salads you can make ahead that have a high acidic dressing.
Easter Salads and Holiday Side Dishes
Red Cabbage Salad (Low Carb, Paleo)
I know cauliflower isn’t exactly spring, but, this raw cauliflower is great for a big gathering because you make it ahead of time.
Cauliflower Salad, (Low Carb, Paleo)
Cold Green Bean Salad (Paleo) I put pears with green beans. It worked. Switch out the pears for cooked red sliced potatoes as an option.
I’m going with beets are a year-round side dish.
Roasted Asparagus screams spring. (Paleo)
Typically, I like kale best in Fall and Winter. This lemony dressing kale salad works for Spring and let me suggest adding cold peas.
Tuscan Kale with Salad Lemony Dressing (Low Carb, Paleo)
Farmhouse Salad. This can be especially pretty if you have chive flowers or edible flowers to add in.
Holiday Side Dishes
This is the all around must have at every holiday dinner.
Stove top Candied Sweet Potatoes (Paleo, if you leave out the brown sugar, just use the maple syrup)
If you have the pot, the flash fry technique is so good. Otherwise I have ten Brussel Sprouts recipes for every occasion.
Flash Fried Brussels Sprouts (Low carb, Paleo)
This is a new recipe. If you’re the person just bringing a side, bring this. It’s a hooray, all the way.
Fresh Green Beans with Almonds – (Low Carb)
I suggest making the beans ahead, shocking them with ice, and adding almonds and almond butter on stove top right before serving.
Cauliflower Crack, Roasted with Butter and Parmesan Cheese (Low Carb) This is the most decadent cauliflower dish to date.
I brought this to a pot luck. It was one of the few dishes that completely disappeared.
Baked Corn Pudding – One of the most popular dishes of all time here.
Sheet Pan Frittata, Perfect as an appetizer, side or brunch item.
Can we say elegant?
We had this at Christmas. It’s everything you want in a scalloped potato. It takes time, but worth it.
No need for me to explain this one, but take notice, you can do this gluten free.
Key Lime Pie, Gluten Free, Grain Free Option
This lemon cake is diabetic friendly and covers a lot of special diets, plus it’s “I ate that whole cake” good.
Lemon Cream Cake I got the recipe from a magazine. That’s my photo, though. Serve with a blueberry compote.
Chocolate Cupcakes, Gluten Free I got this recipe from America’s Test Kitchen. It’s really good. You could use swerve and make this sugar free, if there are special needs.
This has a rich frosting and I’ve made a zillion times, because it’s reliable as a winner. The recipe makes a lot of cupcakes, which is a great crowd pleaser.
Pavlova with Lime Curd (Grain Free, Gluten Free) These are easier than you think and you can fill with lime curd and any fresh fruit you have. You make them individually, and they are another elegant choice.
Ricotta Cookies, Gluten Free
I can’t leave you here without sharing the biscuits. Biscuits are always a holiday choice, and I have good news. I have a biscuit for every diet choice.
My Biscuits Can Accompany any Holiday Side Dish or Brunch
I have three winning recipes, and they all have videos. You might also check out the sweet potato biscuits under the biscuits category.
If you can go all out, make these southern fluffy biscuits. These have gotten the best response of any of the almost 1000 recipes here at Spinach Tiger.
If you’re gluten free, these gluten free biscuits are terrific and the readers love them, a lot. These have beaten out the traffic of the regular biscuit. (That’s saying a lot).
If you’re grain free, low-carb, keto, dairy free, these almond flour biscuits are great (and my favorite).
Strawberry Scones, (Gluten Free) (because I love these so much, I know you will too).
Spring Cocktails are a Must with the Holiday Side Dishes.
Happy Spring. Happy Easter. Happy Mother’s Day. Happy Father’s Day. Happy Graduation. Happy Happy!
