Strawberry Sundae Recipe for a Strawberry Festival Party

Does it seem silly to have a recipe for strawberry sundae? Perhaps, but it’s the subtle things in life that make a difference.
First of all, the strawberries need to be sweet. If they aren’t freshly picked, or bought at a fruit stand, they probably aren’s as sweet and need some sugar.
A few years ago I picked some fresh strawberries and froze them in jars, smashing them first. Once they defrost, you have the perfect strawberry crush for sundaes. However, if you have fresh strawberries sitting in front of you, see the recipe below.

Strawberry Shortcake (with homemade shortcake biscuits)
Strawberry Sundae Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 quarts fresh strawberries
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 strawberry puree
- 8 small scoops vanilla ice cream
- whipped cream
strawberry puree
- 10 ounces frozen or fresh strawberris
- 2 tablespoons sugar
Instructions
- Prepare fresh strawberries. Trim and cut into quarters or halves if they are small. Place in a cup of water with sugar and allow to sit for at least an hour.
defrost strawberries at room temperature. Blend until smooth. Add sugar.
- Taste for sweetness. Add more sugar if necessary.
- Assemble by putting puree in bottom of sundae dish add ice cream, strawberries, puree and more ice cream with fresh strawberries.
- Top with whipped cream.
