Ole Smoky Apple Pie Moonshine Sangria Cocktail

I live in Tennessee, so it’s not out of the ordinary for me to see some flavored Moon Shine at a party.

People like their “sweet” here. They like sweet tea. They like sangria. They also like their moonshine.

What could be better than an apple pie moonshine sangria cocktail?

Let’s face it. Thanksgiving day isn’t just about thanking God or eating a big stretchy pants meal. It’s really the dysfunctional family holiday. You get to see the people you love, the people you avoid all year, and for some, it’s the longest day of the year.

It’s what those crazy Thanksgiving movies are all about, which by the way I just love to watch.

I can remember some of the very best Thanksgiving meals with my family and I can also remember  my first married Thanksgiving, where I cried all the way home. That was 1999, and there were about 999 things I couldn’t square in my new life.

Had they served just a little bit of Moonshine any ole way, it would have been a little bit better.

I have a feeling you all know what I mean. You all have your stories. You have your expectations.

You have your own Thanksgiving movie. You have your own need for a good cocktail at a family gathering.

Ole Smoky Moonshine

Ole Smoky Moonshine’s distillery is located  Gatlinburg, Tennessee and is one American’s most visited distilleries.  There are two different proofs for the apple pie moonshine, as low as 35 and as high as 70, while some of other flavors can be as high as 100 plus proof.

Moonshine Cocktail 2

It was just a tad tricky for me to get this sangria cocktail right, so I called upon the perfect palate in the house, Mr. Spinach Tiger.

He balanced this just right with some white wine and club soda. The club soda is poured out with each glass. Add to this some sliced apples, and cinnamon sticks and you have sangria. Later we added cinnamon sticks.

So tell me, have you ever had moonshine? If not, pick up a mason jar (or order on line).
