What is so special about M? Probably everything.
If I took all of good ideas I’ve pinned on Pinterest to make a beautiful restaurant with stunning food, it would be M. Located in Columbus, Ohio, Cameron Mitchell’s signature restaurant does what I want a high end restaurant to do. M made me feel like I was on vacation and I knew I would get treated to something extraordinary, food and cocktails not likely to show up in my kitchen.
Whether you sit at a table, or enjoy a cocktail at the bar, the ambiance is a mood setter. What could have been a challenge in a an open restaurant with tall ceilings turned into romance with long layers of white sheers hanging from the ceiling, creating high drama, high style.
This silver leafed ceiling at the bar area screams a statement that says we will go the extra to bring you the best with style, modernity, elegance. As a faux finisher, I’ve worked closely with interior designers in the planning stages of new restaurants and renovations. It’s important for the designer to understand the food the chef wants to serve and the personality the owner wants the restaurant to convey.
M gets it right. Signature cocktails are made with equal attention to aesthetics as to taste. This is hall you walk through to get to either the main dining room or the spectacular patio.
Mixology is a passion at M.
How beautiful is this drink?
Black Orchid, Belvedere Black Raspberry. St. Germain Elderflower. White Cranberry, Fresh Lemon Juice.
Signature drink, Marquee. Belvedere Cytrus, Cointreau Noir, Agave Nectar, Blood Orange Puree. Fresh Lemon Juice.
I loved the cocktails but the food kept pace. Mason jars, filled with crab and butter had to be the best bite of the trip, if not my favorite food bite of the year. Greg of Sippity Sup posted the recipe for the crab here, and I’m thinking Christmas Eve might be a little extra special this year.
What a great cocktail party! Sliders, lobster, crab, sushi and signature cocktails, served on a beautiful outdoor patio.
Attention to detail and presentation is notable, and the lobster cones delivered not just in flavor but in cleverness.
This is the way Experience Columbus introduced us to this great food city, and M stands out as one of the places I truly want to return to for a night of fine dining.

Tell me, what’s your favorite restaurant bite this year?
This was an amazing trip you had the opportunity to attend Angela. It looks like Columbus has a great deal to offer!
I’m ready to pack an overnighter and head to the airport. Your photos and words are so enticing and that crab dish might be on our Christmas Eve table too!
I have spent time in Cincinnati, but not Cleveland. It now seems I must. Beautiful and sparkling cocktails are to be had it seems!
Sounds like a very cool place! The cocktails are gorgeous and I would totally love to try that crab, yum!
The food looks wonderful! And now I’m off to take a look at the crab recipe because it sounds delicious (and I was thinking Christmas too-how’s that for great minds think alike Angela? 😉 ).
That was a great part of the trip. I wish it had not been the very first thing though. I was still in my getting into the groove mode and didn’t get to enjoy it as much as I wanted. GREG
Last week we went to Montreal and we had Dinner at Alep, a syrien restaurant. It was so good. Worth the drive.
I especially like the lobster cones you had. They look delicious.
