This burger steak recipe is only made the absolutely most delicious with this sour cream mushroom sauce. It’s completely low carb and keto friendly, and the easiest comfort food you can make.

I know there is a lot of fuss for one dish meals, which I love too, and slow cooker comfort food, but the easy twenty minute meal still rules for us.

This burger steak recipe is the perfect easy dinner when you want the comfort of slow cooking, but you need it fast. The sour cream will add that luscious layer of creaminess while not taking away from the mushrooms or the meat.

This Burger Steak Recipe is Oven Baked for an Easy Dinner

These burger steaks are made the same way I made hamburger steaks with onions, completely oven baked. While the burger steaks are in the oven, you can sauté the mushrooms. Wait just until you’re ready to serve to add in the sour cream. Once you make the sauce complete, you need to serve immediately.

A good side would be mashed potatoes or mashed cauliflower (for low-carb), but I’m always sure to add in a green, like this melted kale.

I used cremini mushrooms, sliced medium thin, and sauteéd first in butter. When they were cooked through and golden but not browned, I added in the sour cream and a little more Worcestershire sauce. (You can use wine in the mushrooms as an option). I added herbs de provence.

When dishes are simple like a burger steak recipe, use quality ingredients.

I used a high quality grass fed ground beef with some added olive oil, as sometimes grass-fed beef can be dry. If you are not using grass fed meat, you can skip the olive oil. I used organic sour cream which is so much better than regular sour cream.

Burger Steak Recipe with Sour Cream Mushroom Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup grass fed ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil see notes
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 3 tablespoons dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Sour Cream Mushroom Sauce
  • 4 cups mushrooms
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup full fat sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire
  • black pepper

Instructions

  • Mix mix gently with olive oil, Worcestershire Sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, pepper.
  • Form into hamburger steaks. I like an oval shape for this recipe, but you can make rounds
  • Bake in oven at 350 degrees F. for about twenty minutes or until your meat reaches the temperature you want.
  • Make Sour Cream Mushroom Sauce
  • Scrub, pat dry mushrooms. I use a mushroom brush. Slice thinly.
  • Add butter to frying pan and cook mushroom on medium low heat until softened.
  • Add in a tablespoon of white wine and cook down until wine has evaporated. If you don't want to use wine, use more Worcestershire sauce. If mushrooms are done before meat, turn heat off.
  • When ready to serve, heat up mushrooms, add in sour cream and toss until you have a sauce the consistency you want.
  • Serve immediately.

Avocado Margarita Recipe
Serves 4
* 1 tablespoon kosher salt or gourmet salt of your choice
* 1 teaspoon finely grated lime or 1 teaspoon finely minced green herb
* 1/2 avocado pitted, peeled
* 4 ounces tequila
* 3 ounces gran gala a triple orange liquor (or triple sec)
* 3 ounces fresh lime juice
* 1 tablespoon or simple syrup
* 1 tablespoon orange juice or squeeze fresh orange
* 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro and optional celery leaves combined
* 4 lime wheels

The quickest five minute low-carb dessert: Whipped Ricotta with a little bit of swerve, vanilla or berries. I use a mini food processor and voila.  I’ve seen a lot of recipes use honey, which would be great too (especially spread on toast). This is my keto version of a fast sweet treat.

* 1 small head red cabbage
* 1 large carrot
* 1/4 cup salted roasted pumpkin seeds may need up to 1/2 cup
* Shallot Vinaigrette
* 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
* 2 tablespoons minced shallots
* 1/4 cup white wine vinegar can use red wine or white wine or champagne vinegar
* juice of 1/2 lemon
* 1/2 to 3/4 cups extra virgin olive oil
* sea salt
* pepper
Instructions
* Trim red cabbage and shred with either food processor, knife or spiralizer.

* Peel and trim carrot. Julienne or shred. Add to cabbage. You can use more carrot if you like. I just used a small amount for color.

* Toss cabbage with vinaigrette. Season with salt and pepper. Toss again. Taste to make sure the cabbage is acidic enough. As it marinates, it will lose some of the acid.

* Add pumpkin seeds, reserving some for topping right before serving.

Shallot Vinaigrette
* Mix mustard, shallots, lemon juice and vinegar.

* Add oil. Shake in jar or use whisk to incorporate.

* Add dressing. You may not use all of the dressing, depending on size of head of cabbage used.

am so excited to say this is a KETO  TIRAMISU, grain free, gluten free, sugar free, but you would never know it. 👩🏻‍🍳Many tricky parts to conquer. First, there are no keto lady fingers. I used my keto yellow cake batter to make cake fingers. 👩🏻‍🍳❤️Worked like a charm and did not fall apart when dipped into espresso. Second tricky part: Making the sabayon (eggs yolks w sweetener  warmed and beaten in bain marie) which takes ten minutes of constant stirring. Also tricky to use swerve and not sugar and not getting grainy, as erythritol doesn’t break down the same way sugar does. There was also a warning about the mascarpone curdling. That didn’t happen either. So maybe I  got lucky. Next time will tell. I also added Red Eye Rye (coffee infused rye) to my espresso because to me tiramisu is not tiramisu without liquor. It came out so good 😋😋and very soon, I’ll soon be posting my recipe.

One of the things I love about alternative baking is the challenge. I get so energized trying to see if I can take a classic and cut out the grains and sugar. I honestly believe this is no longer a trend, but a way of life for many people who never want to return to sugar and it’s headaches (literally). It’s a movement to revolutionize the mistakes from the latter half of the last century that has made so many people sick and compromised. I see this as bigger picture thing than just enjoying a dessert. We are recreating and creating what it means to eat.

Happy Chocolate Day or should I say Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤️💘Can you believe this is the first time I’ve ever made chocolate bark? I needed an emergency chocolate dessert for a gathering (I thought was going to be cancelled). I had the chocolate (that yum 72 % huge chocolate bar from Trader Joe’s), 🍫a pomegranate, pecans and almonds (I roasted with salt), some sunflower seeds, dried cherries and dried cranberries. Melt chocolate in bain marie (fancy word for bowl over simmering water), pour on parchment and then artfully or not so artfully arrange your stuff on the chocolate. 🍫Refrigerate for ONE HOUR and boom! Everyone LOVED it and ate it all up. The pomegranates gave it that little extra something something and don’t forget some sea salt. 😋❤️

Ingredients
* 2 ounces vodka Mandarin Vodka or regular
* 2 ounces strawberry simple syrup 
* splash of dry vermouth
* ice
* fresh strawberries and basil for garnish

Strawberry Simple Syrup
Ingredients
* 3 cups strawberries washed with stems removed divided
* 1 cup sugar (or make it low carb with Swerve)
* 1 cup water
Put together in pot, bring to boil, reduce to simmer. Take through a sieve to make the syrup. 

Instructions for Martini
* Put vodka, strawberry simple syrup, dry vermouth and ice into shaker.
Serve iced cold.
Garnish with strawberry and basil leaf.

I had my first porchetta in San Francisco and my second in Lucca, Tuscany. This is mock porchetta from the Zuni Cafe Cookbook that gets you close enough in your own kitchen. Stuff  the pork butt with fennel seeds, garlic, rosemary, sage, capers and lemon and cook to slow to fork tender. It’s amazing as sandwich on sliders with arugula. Or…like this with root vegetables.

I’m always looking for a new way to make chicken.👩🏻‍🍳 Ricotta stuffed chicken breasts is 30 minutes from start to finish. Writing this recipe up today, but it’s pretty easy. Pound the breasts thin. Mix ricotta with chopped spinach, mozzarella, parmesan, salt and pepper. Fold. Top with pork panko (crumbs made from pork rinds). Fry on one side. Turn over. Put in oven. Bake about 15-20 minutes. You could go right to the oven and bake longer. Serve with lemon.
