Red and Golden Beet Crostini with Goat Cheese and Honey


  • 1 large red beet
  • 1 large golden beet
  • blood orange olive oil just enough to glisten beets
  • splash white balsamic or champagne vinegar
  • spreadable goat cheese enough to spread on each crostini
  • honey just enough to drizzle over cheese
  • toasted sour dough bread


  • Steam or roast beets in skin until tender. (I steamed for about 30 minutes, until a fork easily pierced the beet, but not too soft).
  • Using paper towels, rub beets and skin comes right off.
  • Cut into small cubes. Toss with blood orange olive oil or olive oil and with some orange zest. Add a splash of vinegar. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Top toasted bread with a goat cheese. Drizzle honey. Top with beets.
  • If taking to a party, mix goat cheese and honey ahead, place in jar. Bring jar of goat cheese and honey and jars of beets along with toasted sour dough, or toasted flat bread.
