I’ve told you all about the Honeysuckle Local and Social in Franklin, Tennessee earlier this winter at this post.
The local stands for ingredients sourced locally. The social stands for creating a beautiful, warm environment to encourage enjoyable dining. The restaurant decor is gorgeous, but my eyes were on the food at my most recent visit.
The Honeysuckle announces a new chef and makes exciting changes to the menu.
Today, I have exciting news about this beautiful southern restaurant. The new executive chef, Skylar Bush, (formerly at the Southern) has changed the menu and it’s better than ever. Chef Skylar has worked hard to use local, honest ingredients putting a focus on no hormone, no antibiotic meats, and organically raised vegetables. There’s a board in the restaurant full of local purveyors.
Chef’s ideas for composing his menu include using as many local purveyors as possible. But that’s not enough to make a great menu. It takes culinary talent and creativity. Chef Skyler Bush describes his food as low-country, farm to table. I would add in the words elegant, hearty, and nuanced to describe his dishes.
A select group of bloggers were invited to try tastings from several dishes. We were also served a paired cocktail with each course.
The first few dishes were small plates, meant to share at the table.
Honeysuckle Local & Social has four smaller dishes served with grits, but they could be an entree.
