Many thanks for the stuffed olive mention. Ironically our tradition is to go to a friend’s house for Oscars where I’m NEVER assigned the appetizer duty. Its their loss as now I have lots of fun ideas from this post I would have tried out.

G’day and what a fun post today, true!
LOVE the beet and mango combo and WISH I had enough girlfriends who could commit to a date for a get together…everyone always seems so busy with their own lives…shame really…and something I miss about when I lived in the States too…as there never would be a question of how many came to a party…

That really was the best line “evah” wasn’t it? I just laughed out loud in the theater when the “science oven” came out of the trunk of the car…brillant moment.
I really do not do anything special for Oscar night…no special food or drink, nor get togethers…just as you do…I get in my jammies early and snuggle in with a light supper and a glass of vino. After I see the outfits I pretty much check out and read about the results the next morning in the Times…exciting life!

Hey Angela,
Well every year 8 girlfriends get together for Oscar night and bring appetizers. We have done so many different and wonderful foods over the months and years when we get together, all are foodies. This year I am making a cheese ball coated in pecans filled with ham, green onions and crushed pineapple. And I am making hot and mild sausage balls with 3 dipping sauces, BQ, Red Chili Sauce, and a Greek Cucumber yogurt sauce. I might at the last minute add your beet and mango’s, I have both in house. My sister in law makes the best canned beets from her garden every year and I just am in heaven anytime she gives me a jar thru out the winter. Thanks for all your Oscar tips!
