Next Saturday, December 1, is World AIDS Day. I am hosting a blogger event, called Red to Remember, to raise awareness, and to remember. You can read my reasons at my Red to Remember page.

I chose a few pictures I took a few years back when I visited San Francisco and Napa Valley. I was trying out a cool feature in my point and shoot camera at the time, and didn’t know at the time, why I was taking those pictures, but it made sense today. If you are a blogger, you may want to join my event and help to raise awareness, while remembering the 619,000 who have died of this disease in the United Stated, 30 million deaths world wide.

The AIDS crisis is still an alarming crisis.

  • More than 34 million people now live with HIV/AIDS, world wide.
  • 3.3 million of them are under the age of 15, world wide.

I hosted this event with this entry a few years ago with more information for my motivation and the final round up was posted here. I decided to do this again and I hope I make this a yearly event.

An estimated 619,000 people in the United States have died from AIDS since the epidemic began. When I look at those stats, I think about the 619,000 families who have suffered a loss. And, because I fall into that category, I do this for them, to remember.

If you are a blogger and you want to join to cook something or post something red, you can get the information at Red to Remember.
